Radiant Logistics, Inc. (NYSE American: RLGT) has launched an independent agent program at its U.S. over-the-road and intermodal brokerage subsidiary, Radiant Road & Rail, Inc., according to a company statement.
The program extends the agent-based model the company has used in its freight forwarding business, Radiant Global Logistics, to the truck brokerage and intermodal market. Agents gain access to Radiant Road & Rail's carrier network, technology platform, back-office support and services spanning truckload, less-than-truckload, temperature-controlled, intermodal, drayage and transloading.
The program also allows agents to cross-sell international air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage and other services through the broader Radiant network. A structured exit mechanism is included, under which Radiant may acquire an agent's business when the owner chooses to sell.
Two agency owners anchor the launch. Travis Tackett, with 14 years of industry experience, will focus on produce transportation across the United States. Ryan Knight, with more than 13 years of experience, will specialize in oversized and heavy freight.
Radiant Road & Rail uses Revenova as its transportation management system. The subsidiary was originally founded in 1938 as Clipper Exxpress and operates across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
"Our goal at Radiant has always been to be the preferred platform for logistics entrepreneurs," said Bohn Crain, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Radiant Logistics. "With the launch of Radiant Road & Rail's agent program, we will be giving talented, customer-focused operators the platform, technology and support to build their own business under the Radiant umbrella, with a clear path to monetizing what they've built."
Radiant has been building its freight forwarding agent network since entering the business in 2006 with the acquisition of Airgroup, followed by acquisitions including Adcom Worldwide in 2008, Distribution By Air in 2011 and Service By Air in 2015.
