June 26 (Reuters) - Mining ‌major BHP will split its President Americas role into two positions, President North America ‌and President South America, as part of the executive leadership team changes it announced ‌on Friday.

The move will ‌allow a greater focus on each region, the company said.

Here are some details:

• Jessica Farrell has been appointed President, North America, effective July 1. She is currently the vice-president of innovation and previously served as Western Australia Nickel Asset President, with more than 20 years of experience across commodities and jurisdictions at BHP.

• Farrell ‌will also serve as the President, South America, while recruitment for that role is completed.

• Incoming CEO Brandon Craig, who will take on the role on July 1, said the appointments support BHP's strategy and growth agenda.

• Craig added that the changes would help the company deliver its strategy, improve operational performance, ‌drive growth, and create social value.

• Geraldine Slattery will continue as ‌President, Australia, and will assume responsibility for Copper South ‌Australia, bringing all Australian operating assets together.
