Aug 2 (Reuters) - ‌Acting U.S. ​Attorney ​General Todd Blanche rescinded an order that established the "anti-weaponization" ‌fund, ahead of a key ⁠Senate committee vote on Tuesday, after ‌Republican senators held up ‌his nomination over concerns about the fund.

Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi meets Red Cross official, government says Aug 3, 2026 12:11AM

BANGKOK, Aug ‌3 (Reuters) - ​Myanmar's ​detained former leader Aung San ‌Suu Kyi met with ⁠a representative of ‌the International Committee of ‌the Red Cross on Monday, a ​spokeswoman for the Myanmar government said.

The ⁠meeting came amid concerns over ​the health of the 81-year-old Nobel Peace ​Prize winner, ‌who has been in detention since ⁠a February 2021 coup plunged the ⁠impoverished Southeast Asian nation into ​turmoil.

Cuba plunges into darkness as electric grid collapses Aug 2, 2026 11:30PM

Aug 2 (Reuters) - Cuba's ‌electricity grid ​collapsed ​late on Sunday, the state-owned grid operator said, plunging the island ‌of about 10 million people into darkness ⁠as blackouts become more frequent.

The outage follows three ‌nationwide blackouts in July ‌and comes as a U.S.-imposed oil blockade further strains the island's ageing energy ​infrastructure.
