Oct 15 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee said on Thursday that data this week showing stronger-than-expected consumer and producer price inflation has been "discouraging."
"I still have some optimism that if the drivers of inflation are things that can go away in short order, whether that's tariffs, whether that's wars in the Middle East and supply disruptions, that's the best scenario," Goolsbee said in an interview on CNN. "If it's coming from overheating demand, from AI data center build out, that's a little more disturbing and we'd have to address that."
