Dominican Republic expels 9 Cuban officials

E-mailSANTO DOMINGO, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The Dominican Republic has formally asked Cuba to withdraw nine members of its diplomatic mission and their relatives, the foreign ministry said on Thursday, without explaining further.
The move comes as Dominican leadership has increasingly criticized Cuba, whose allies are dwindling as the impact of a U.S.-led economic crackdown makes life on the island more and more difficult.
