August 6, 2010 10:44 AM UTC
Agriculture stock have been surging lately related to the Russian drought, weakness in the dollar and the subsequent rise in grains and other commodity prices.

To put the move in prospective look to the sector ETFs Market Vectors Agribusiness (NYSE: MOO), which is up 20 percent in the last month.

Hot performing stocks in the sector:
  • Terra Nitrogen (NYSE: TNH) up 38 percent
  • AGCO Corporation (Nasdaq: AGCO) up 36 percent
  • Agrium (NYSE: AGU) up 36 percent
  • Potash Corp. (NYSE: POT) up 35 percent
  • Mosaic (NYSE: MOS) up 32 percent
  • Intrepid Potash (NYSE: IPI) up 29 percent
  • CF Industries (NYSE: CF) up 28 percent
  • Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) up 25 percent
  • The Andersons (Nasdaq: ANDE) up 23 percent
The recent movement in the sector might give some traders flashbacks about the momentum seen in the sector in 2007 thru mid-2008, which ended badly and hurt many investors.

This time is different...right?

With dollar weakness likely to continue and commodities poised to rise further, these stocks will likely continue to outperform. But be careful - when the party ends, it ends quickly. Don't be a pig.
