Anthem Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2017 Results Reflecting Balanced Performance across Its Business Units
January 31, 2018 6:00 AM ESTOperating revenues grew 5.8% year-over-year to $89.1 billion. Medical enrollment increased by 325 thousand members in 2017 to 40.2 million members. Fourth quarter net income was $4.67 per share, including net positive adjustment items of $3.38 per share of which $4.21 relates to a one-time, non-cash deferred tax benefit from tax reform. Adjusted net income was $1.29 per share (refer to the GAAP reconciliation table). Full year net income was $14.35 per share, including net positive adjustment items of $2.31 per share.
