SunTrust Reports Second Quarter 2016 Results
July 22, 2016 6:00 AM EDTATLANTA, July 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) reported net income available to common shareholders of $475 million, or $0.94 per average common diluted share.  This quarter was favorably impacted by $0.05 per share of discrete benefits (details can be found on page 2).
Earnings per share increased 12% compared to the prior quarter and 6% compared to the second quarter of 2015. For the first half of 2016, earnings per share grew 7% compared to the same period a year ago.
