Viacom revenue miss adds to concerns over U.S. cable companies

(Reuters) - Viacom Inc (NYSE: VIAB) reported weaker-than-expected quarterly revenue, hurt by lower advertising revenue from its U.S. cable TV business as viewers increasingly shift to online streaming services.
The results add to investor concerns over the U.S. cable industry after disappointing numbers from Walt Disney, Twenty-First Century Fox Inc, Discovery Communications Inc and Time Warner Inc this week.

August 6, 2015 6:58 AM EDTViacom (NASDAQ: VIAB) reported Q3 EPS of $1.47, in-line with the analyst estimate of $1.47. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.05 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.25 billion.
