Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) CFO Fran Shammo said 9.8 million smartphones were sold in the fourth-quarter 2012. Notably, this compares with 10 million reported by AT&T (NYSE: T) earlier in January.
Of the total, 6.2 million were Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhones and 3.6 million were Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-based devices.
