NRx subsidiary HOPE begins training on FDA-cleared robotic TMS system

NRx Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: NRXP) announced that its subsidiary, HOPE Therapeutics, Inc., is training clinical staff on Zeta Surgical's FDA-cleared Zeta TMS Robotic System, ahead of deployment at HOPE's Florida clinics.

HOPE claims to be the first interventional psychiatry network to deploy the system, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in July 2026. Staff are completing orientation at Zeta Surgical's headquarters in Boston. The robotic system uses AI-driven software to adjust a TMS coil in real time with submillimeter precision via a robotic arm originally approved for neurosurgery.

The deployment builds on a step HOPE took in June 2026, when it became what it described as the first commercial site in the United States to treat patients with Zeta Surgical's TMS Navigation System, which uses AI-driven image guidance to track patient head position in real time.

According to the company, the robotic TMS deployment supports SPARC-TMS, an FDA-approved Phase 2/3 trial (NCT07227103) combining NRx's drug candidate NRX-101 with robotic TMS. NRx said it was selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as prime contractor for a military-focused SPARC-TMS project, conducted in partnership with Harvard McLean Hospital, subject to completion of contracting. The trial is planned across an academic teaching hospital, multiple HOPE clinics, and two military treatment facilities.

TMS is a non-invasive therapy used primarily for treatment-resistant depression, which affects approximately one-third of patients with major depressive disorder.

"Not all TMS is delivered the same way, and the difference between precise, repeatable targeting and approximation is exactly what patients and clinicians should be asking about," said Jonathan Javitt, MD, MPH, Chairman and CEO of NRx Pharmaceuticals and HOPE Therapeutics.
