Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) has received CE Marking for its Acuvue Oasys MAX 2-Week contact lens, a reusable lens designed for a two-week wear cycle, according to a company press release.
The lens is planned to launch in select European markets in late 2026, with broader expansion expected through 2027 and 2028, subject to local regulatory approvals. It has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is not available for sale in the United States.
The Acuvue Oasys MAX 2-Week includes OptiBlue Light Filter technology, which the company claims filters at least 60% of blue-violet light, stating this is the highest level among reusable contact lenses based on publicly available information as of June 2026. The lens also incorporates TearStable Technology, intended to help retain moisture, and Class 1 UV blocking.
Johnson & Johnson said that in clinical testing, 99% of subjects wearing the existing Acuvue Oasys 2-Week were successfully refit into the new lens using the same power, base curve, and diameter, requiring no additional fitting time for eye care professionals.
Globally, an estimated 140 million people wear contact lenses, with approximately half choosing a reusable option, according to a 2024 study published in Contact Lens and Anterior Eye.
"With Acuvue Oasys MAX 2-Week, we are bringing our most advanced Acuvue technologies to a reusable lens, helping more people see clearly and feel comfortable throughout the full two-week wear cycle," said Jacqueline Henderson, Company Group Chair, Vision, MedTech, Johnson & Johnson.
The new lens expands the existing Acuvue Oasys MAX portfolio, which previously included daily disposable options.
