ChargePoint names John Saffrett as Europe EVP and managing director

ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) has appointed John Saffrett as Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, the company announced. Saffrett will oversee sales, customer relationships, partnerships, and market expansion across European markets, reporting directly to CEO Rick Wilmer.

Saffrett has more than 25 years of experience in automotive, fleet management, and financial services. He most recently served as Global Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ayvens, where he led the integration of two large fleet management companies into a single operation spanning more than 40 countries. Before that, he held roles as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administration Officer at ALD Automotive.

Saffrett had been a member of ChargePoint's Advisory Council since March 2026 before taking the executive role.

"Europe is at the center of our growth ambitions, and John is the ideal leader to accelerate our momentum in this critical region," said Rick Wilmer, Chief Executive Officer of ChargePoint.

ChargePoint said the appointment reflects its focus on expanding its European presence. The company recently launched its Express Solo DC charger and announced partnerships with Mercedes-Benz and Ford Pro.
