Dermata Therapeutics (NASDAQ: DRMA) has launched its first direct-to-consumer skincare product, the Tome Foundational Treatment, the company announced in a press release dated August 25, 2026.
The product is available for purchase at the company's website as either a one-time purchase or through a monthly subscription at a discounted price. The treatment is designed to be used once weekly and is intended to improve skin tone and texture over time.
The Foundational Treatment uses an ingredient the company calls Bioneedle, described as a purified powder derived from Spongilla lacustris, a freshwater sponge. Dermata says the ingredient is wild harvested and minimally processed.
Gerry Proehl, Dermata's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, said the launch marks the company's transition from a pre-commercial stage. "Today, we make the transition from a pre-commercial company, to putting our first Tome product directly into the hands of consumers," Proehl said.
Dermata announced a strategic shift toward direct-to-consumer skincare in 2025, aiming to leverage its dermatology background and Bioneedle technology. The company states it plans to develop additional products under the Tome brand, though no specific timelines were provided. Dermata is headquartered in San Diego, California.
