Sabre (NASDAQ: SABR) has appointed Derek Sharp as Senior Vice President of Lodging, Ground and Media, effective September 8. Sharp succeeds Chinmai Sharma, who is departing the company after leading the division through a period of growth.
Sharp brings more than three decades of experience in travel, transportation, IT services and professional services. He has held senior roles at EDS/HP, CWT and Travelport, with experience spanning the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Sharp will report to Andy Finkelstein, Chief Commercial Officer of Travel Marketplace at Sabre. "Derek brings deep experience across travel, technology and professional services, with a strong record of leading commercial and operational teams," Finkelstein said in a statement.
The appointment comes as Sabre reported an 11% year-over-year increase in hotel-related revenue in the second quarter. The company said it continues to expand its lodging content and capabilities.
According to the press release, Sharp's responsibilities will include deepening supplier relationships, expanding content quality, and strengthening customer engagement across lodging, ground transportation and media offerings.
