Humana names Dr. Shantanu Nundy as chief medical officer

Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced that Shantanu Nundy, M.D., will join the company as chief medical officer, effective August 31, reporting directly to president and CEO Jim Rechtin and serving on the company's Enterprise Leadership Team.
Dr. Nundy most recently served as executive vice president of care delivery and chief health officer at Accolade, a healthcare navigation and care delivery company. Before that, he was managing director for clinical innovation at Evolent Health, where he focused on value-based and digital care transformation.
He has advised organizations including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the World Bank on digital health and artificial intelligence. Dr. Nundy practices primary care at a community health center and hospital medicine at a regional health system.
Dr. Nundy holds a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a medical degree from Johns Hopkins, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He serves on the adjunct faculty at Stanford Medicine and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and is the author of two books.
According to a statement from Rechtin included in the press release, Dr. Nundy's role will involve shaping the design of the company's products, platforms, and use of AI.
