MDA Space opens satellite control centre in Québec ahead of 2026 launch

MDA Space Ltd. (NYSE: MDA) has opened the MDA CHORUS™ Control Centre in St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Québec, which will serve as the operational hub for its MDA CHORUS™ satellite constellation, according to a company statement.

The facility is designed to support satellite mission operations including command and control, mission assurance, and Earth observation data delivery. MDA Space said the opening marks a step toward operational readiness ahead of a planned constellation launch in late 2026, with commercial operations expected to begin in early 2027.

MDA CHORUS™ is described as a dual-band synthetic aperture radar Earth observation constellation. The company said the system is designed to deliver a 700 km-wide imaging swath and sub-metre high-resolution spotlight images, operable day or night regardless of weather conditions. The constellation uses a C-band satellite for wide-area imaging and an X-band satellite for high-resolution detail in a single pass.

"The opening of this new state-of-the-art control centre is a critical and exciting step as we prepare to launch and operationalize MDA CHORUS™," said Mike Greenley, CEO of MDA Space. "This facility brings together the people, systems and infrastructure required to deliver the extraordinary insights and intelligence that global customers depend on."

The constellation is intended to serve both commercial and government customers globally.
