Co-Diagnostics expands mosquito testing unit to 21 states

Co-Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CODX) announced that its Vector Smart division has expanded its mosquito abatement district (MAD) customer base to 21 states, with four new full laboratory installations added in June alone, according to a press release from the Salt Lake City-based company.

The Vector Smart product line includes multiplex PCR tests for diseases including West Nile virus, eastern and western equine encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, Zika, dengue, and chikungunya. The tests are designed for in-house use by MADs to conduct mosquito pool testing.

The announcement coincides with a Co-Diagnostics webinar for prospective MAD customers held during National Mosquito Control Awareness Week.

CEO Dwight Egan said the company is focused on decentralizing PCR testing to allow MADs to conduct testing independently rather than relying on outside laboratories. "Decentralizing PCR testing to the point of need enables faster, data-driven vector surveillance and better coordination between public health agencies," Egan said.

The World Health Organization estimates that vector-borne diseases carried by mosquitoes cause more than 700,000 deaths annually. In June 2026, Maricopa County, Arizona reported its first West Nile virus-related death of the season.
