NRC issues no significant impact finding for enCore Energy uranium project

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued an Environmental Assessment and a Finding of No Significant Impact for enCore Energy Corp.'s (NASDAQ: EU) Dewey Burdock Uranium Project in South Dakota, the company said in a press release dated June 22, 2026.

The finding supports the renewal of the project's 20-year NRC Source Materials License, which is currently in Timely Renewal status. The NRC stated it will renew the license if enCore, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Powertech USA, Inc., demonstrates it will continue to meet NRC safety requirements for construction and operation of an In-Situ Recovery facility. The NRC safety evaluation review is described as the final step in the renewal process, and enCore said it has provided all required information for that review.

The NRC also issued a Programmatic Agreement satisfying its obligations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, outlining a phased process for compliance related to cultural and historic resources.

The decision follows a recent Bureau of Land Management authorization allowing construction of infrastructure on portions of the project's BLM-managed public lands, including access roads, groundwater monitoring wells, and overhead power lines.

The Dewey Burdock Project covers 10,580 acres and plans to produce yellowcake uranium using the ISR process. The project was added to the federal Fast-41 accelerated permitting program on August 28, 2025, with the NRC serving as lead agency.

William M. Sheriff, Executive Chair of enCore Energy, said the company looks forward to "the final steps in the NRC's review of the renewal of the Dewey Burdock license for an additional 20-year period."
