ZION names new technology leaders as CTO Smith departs

Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ: ZION) announced leadership changes in its technology and operations team effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Jennifer Smith, who served as Chief Technology and Operations Officer since 2015, will leave the bank following a 20-year career with Zions. The company's Enterprise Technology and Operations division will be led by Margaret Mayer as Chief Information Officer and Ken Collins as Chief Transformation and Operations Officer.

Mayer joined Zions two years ago as Chief Technology Officer after working in banking technology at Capital One and Discover. Collins has been with Zions for 24 years in various Enterprise Technology and Operations

The analyst comments: "We are upgrading ZION to Overweight based on our expectation for ~180 bps of positive operating leverage in 2026, above both the company's 100–150 bps guidance and ~90 bps Consensus estimate.
