Iraq's minister says U.S. deals worth up to $200 billion

Investing.com -- Iraq's oil ministry signed agreements with U.S. companies valued at up to $200 billion during Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to the United States, Oil Minister Basim Mohammed said today.

The minister told Iraqi state television that the agreements will add production capacity and boost investment in associated gas projects.

Iraq's current oil production capacity stands at 4.8 million barrels per day, Mohammed said.

The country faces the same challenge as other oil-producing nations in attracting investment and expanding production while adhering to OPEC+ output limits.

IEA monitoring oil markets amid Middle East supply concerns

Investing.com -- The International Energy Agency said it is closely monitoring oil markets as rising tensions in the Middle East raise concerns about supply security.

The agency, which oversees emergency stockpile releases by consumer nations, said markets continue to benefit from several cushioning factors, including substantial supplies from Persian Gulf producers such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement on its website.

Exports from the Gulf remain below the peaks reached in late June but are still considerably higher than levels seen between early March and mid-June, the Paris-based agency estimates.

Investing.com -- The European Commission told EU governments on Monday to waive penalties for oil and gas companies that violate its methane emissions law for three years. The decision follows pressure from the U.S. government to reduce the regulations.

Starting January 2027, the law was scheduled to require imported oil and gas to meet emissions monitoring rules equal to Europe's standards.

The Commission stated that EU countries should not impose penalties on companies that break the methane law in 2027, 2028 and 2029. The decision aims to prevent supply disruptions, according to the Commission.
