TOP Ships acquires nine tanker contracts for $41 million from CEO affiliate

TOP Ships Inc. announced it will acquire 100% of nine Marshall Islands companies that hold shipbuilding contracts for nine 47,499 deadweight ton medium range product and chemical oil tankers from an entity affiliated with the company's chief executive officer.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery during 2028 and 2029 from Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited. The acquisition price totals approximately $41 million.

The shipbuilding contracts require customary refund guarantees to become effective. The special purpose vehicles are finalizing lease financing agreements with two major Chinese leasing companies, including ABC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., to cover the majority of the construction costs for

Top Ships Inc. (NYSE: TOPS) announced it extended a time charter agreement with Weco Tankers A/S by three years for its 50,000 deadweight ton MR Product Tanker, M/T Eco Marina Del Ray. The charter extension carries a daily rate of $18,250.

The Athens-based tanker operator expects total gross revenue backlog of $20.0 million associated with the charter extension, according to a company statement.

Top Ships operates modern, fuel-efficient tanker vessels that transport crude oil, petroleum products and bulk liquid chemicals.
