Sagimet Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq: SGMT) announced that the first patient has been dosed in AURORA, its pivotal U.S. Phase 3 clinical trial evaluating denifanstat for the treatment of moderate to severe acne in adults and adolescents aged 12 and older.

The multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial is designed to enroll approximately 800 U.S. patients, of which 450 are expected to be adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. Patients will receive denifanstat 50 mg or placebo once daily for 12 weeks, with a 40-week open-label extension available to approximately 530 eligible patients to assess long-term safety.
