Netflix raises prices in Germany and Austria, Citi comments

Investing.com -- Netflix announced price increases in Germany and Austria on Friday, affecting approximately 18% of its Europe, Middle East and Africa subscribers and 6% of total subscribers, according to Citi analysts.

In Germany, the ad-supported tier will increase from €4.99 to €6.99, the Standard plan will rise from €13.99 to €15.99, and the Premium plan will move from €19.99 to €21.99. In Austria, the Basic plan will increase from €8.99 to €10.99, the Standard plan from €13.99 to €15.99, and the Premium plan from €19.99 to €21.99.

Investing.com -- Wolfe Research has lifted its price target on Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) to $95 from $84, telling clients in a note that its analysis of viewing data suggests the streamer's soft second quarter was a scheduling issue rather than a demand problem.

"After analyzing millions of data points from Netflix's viewing history, we believe the timing of new content releases was largely to blame for soft 2Q subscriber and engagement results," analyst Peter Supino wrote.

The analyst comments "Light 2nd quarter seems to have resulted from timing of content releases: As shown in Exhibits 34-36, Netflix's worst subscriber growth quarter in years during 2Q (est. +900K) coincided with its worst quarter of viewing across its top 10 titles since the writer's strike in 2023. Ackman adds Netflix, Visa and Mastercard in portfolio revamp

Investing.com -- Bill Ackman disclosed six new portfolio holdings on Thursday, including Netflix, Visa, and Mastercard, representing his largest portfolio restructuring in several years.

The billionaire investor said he began purchasing the shares during the second quarter for his investment funds, including Pershing Square USA, which started trading on the New York Stock Exchange in April.

The additions also include eye care company Alcon, exchange operator Intercontinental Exchange, and financial data provider S&P Global. Netflix previously appeared in Ackman's portfolio briefly in 2022 before he sold the position at a loss.
