Nordic American Tankers reports ship incidents in Arabian Gulf and Black Sea

Nordic American Tankers Ltd (NYSE: NAT) disclosed that three of its suezmax vessels were held in the Arabian Gulf from Feb. 28, 2026, and have since been freed and returned to worldwide trading, according to a statement from the company.

The company also reported that one of its vessels was attacked in the Black Sea. The crew was unharmed and the ship sustained minor damage. The vessel has since left the Black Sea area.

Nordic American Tankers said it does not operate ships in the Red Sea and that no significant insurance issues arose from either the Arabian Gulf or Black Sea

Nordic American Tankers says 3 ships escaped Arabian Gulf

Nordic American Tankers Ltd (NYSE: NAT) said three of its suezmax tankers that had been trapped in the Arabian Gulf since February 28, 2026, have been freed and are now trading worldwide, according to a company statement issued July 14, 2026.

Founder, Chairman and CEO Herbjorn Hansson said the company faces no significant insurance issues related to the vessels' involuntary stay in the Arabian Gulf. He added that the company's operations are unaffected regardless of whether the Strait of Hormuz remains open or closed.
