Immutep discontinues lung cancer trial after futility analysis

Immutep Limited (ASX: IMM; NASDAQ: IMMP) announced that the Independent Data Monitoring Committee for its TACTI-004 Phase III study recommended discontinuing the trial following a planned interim futility analysis.

The study was evaluating eftilagimod alfa in patients with first-line non-small cell lung cancer. Based on its review of available safety and efficacy data, the committee recommended discontinuation for futility, according to the company's statement.

Enrollment in the study will be halted and the company will implement an orderly wind down, including patient follow-up and site closure in accordance with regulatory and ethical obligations.

Immutep Limited (NASDAQ: ) received €2,588,954 (approximately A$4,567,769) in cash from the French government under its Crédit d'Impôt Recherche scheme, the biotechnology company announced.

The Research Tax Credit allows French companies conducting research and development activities in Europe to receive reimbursement of 30% of their eligible expenditure. Immutep qualifies for the incentive through its subsidiary Immutep S.A.S. due to research and development conducted in its French laboratory.

The cash payment covers expenditure incurred on eligible R&D activities conducted in the European Union during the 2024 calendar year. The company also qualifies for cash rebates from the Australian Federal Government's R&D tax incentive
