Airbus Helicopters wins €1.1 million European Defence Agency drone contract

Airbus Helicopters has been selected by the European Defence Agency for the Multi Mission Unmanned Aircraft System project through its subsidiary Survey Copter. The contract spans 48 months with a total budget of approximately €1.1 million, according to a company statement.

The project involves studying and developing a hybrid uncrewed aircraft capable of performing various operational missions depending on its configuration and payloads. The work builds on Airbus Helicopters' existing Capa-X uncrewed aerial system.

Airbus unveils rotorcraft concepts for NATO next generation study

Airbus Helicopters has presented two rotorcraft concepts to address NATO Next Generation Rotorcraft Capabilities study requirements, according to a company statement. The concepts include a conventional helicopter and a high-speed compound rotorcraft designed for military operations.

The proposal was developed with RTX businesses Collins Aerospace and Raytheon, along with MBDA. Both concepts will share maintenance, training, weapons and systems components through a Modular Open System Architecture approach.

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, said the company aims to provide platforms that address military partners' needs for affordability and operational efficiency. The designs focus on simplicity in manufacturing, maintenance and upgrades.
