Protective Life names new CFO and chief risk officer ahead of CEO change

Protective Life Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Daiichi Life Group, Inc. (TSE: 8750), announced that Casey Hardeman will become Chief Financial Officer and Dom Lebel will become Chief Risk & Actuarial Officer, both effective October 1, according to a press release.

The appointments are part of a planned leadership transition as Paul Wells prepares to become Chief Executive Officer on January 1, 2027, succeeding current CEO Rich Bielen. Hardeman will succeed Wells in the CFO role.

Protective Life Corporation announced that Chief Executive Officer Rich Bielen will retire at the end of 2026, with President and Chief Financial Officer Paul Wells set to succeed him as President and CEO effective January 1, 2027.

The Birmingham, Alabama-based life insurance company, a subsidiary of Daiichi Life Group Inc. (TSE: 8750), also said that two other executives plan to retire at year-end. Scott Adams, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation & Strategy Officer, and Mark Drew, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, will both step down at the end of 2026.
