FDA grants fast track status to CytomX drug for colorectal cancer

CytomX Therapeutics (Nasdaq: CTMX) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Fast Track Designation to varsetatug masetecan, known as Varseta-M, for the treatment of relapsed/refractory metastatic colorectal cancer.

Varseta-M is an antibody drug conjugate directed toward epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) with a topoisomerase-1 inhibitor payload. CytomX describes it as a potential first-in-class therapy in this category.

The FDA's Fast Track Designation is intended to facilitate the development and expedite the review of therapies for serious conditions where unmet medical needs exist.
