Sixth Street, through its backed insurer Talcott Financial Group, has sent a private letter to the board of Brighthouse Financial Inc. reaffirming its interest in acquiring the life insurance and annuity provider, according to a Bloomberg report.

The letter was sent last month as a pending acquisition agreement between Brighthouse and another buyer remains under regulatory review. Talcott's outreach signals a continued interest in pursuing a takeover should the current deal fall through.
