Alaska Airlines adds San Diego-Loreto route as its 50th nonstop

Alaska Airlines is launching seasonal nonstop service between San Diego International Airport and Loreto, Mexico, beginning Dec. 19, 2026. The route marks the carrier's 50th nonstop destination from San Diego and will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays through April 28, 2027, aboard an Embraer E175 operated by SkyWest Airlines.

According to a company press release, Alaska Airlines claims it will be the only carrier offering nonstop service between San Diego and Loreto when flights begin. The airline also claims to offer more nonstop destinations from San Diego than any other airline.

Investing.com -- American Airlines reduced its fourth quarter 2026 domestic capacity growth forecast by 110 basis points to 10.1%, according to a Bank of America report tracking weekly airline capacity changes.

The carrier cut November growth by 300 basis points as part of the reduction. American Airlines also trimmed its Atlantic growth forecast by 140 basis points to 1.8% and reduced Pacific growth by 240 basis points to negative 2.9%.
