It is designated by the SEC as a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO). Fitch’s long-term credit ratings are set up along a scale from ‘AAA’ to ‘D’ and its short-term credit ratings range from ‘F1+’ to ‘D’. The firm was founded in 1913 by John Knowles Fitch.
