Mineral Road starts tungsten drilling program, adds Steve Leahy to board
Mineral Road Discovery Inc. (CSE: ROAD) has begun a technical program at its Bergslagen Tungsten Project in Sweden, engaging Nordic geological consultancy GeoPool Oy to consolidate historical data and support field operations at the Yxsjberg site, according to a company press release.
The company has also appointed Steve Leahy, founder and former chairman and CEO of North American Tungsten Corp., to its board of directors. Leahy previously led the financing and development of the Cantung Tungsten Mine, which at peak production supplied approximately 4% of global tungsten output.
The initial work program targets historical surface tailings at Yxsjberg through systematic drilling and sampling to determine tonnage, grade distribution, mineralogy, and metallurgical characteristics. Historical records indicate the tailings contain tungsten alongside copper, fluorite, and other minerals. The company said it is obtaining the necessary permits with the intention of commencing drilling before the end of 2026.
GeoPool, founded in 2007, is also digitizing historical geological data into a 3D model to prioritize exploration targets across the Yxsjberg system. The consultancy co-authored exploration guidance for Svemin, the Swedish Association of Mines, Mineral and Metal Producers.
In parallel, the company is compiling a historical hard-rock exploration database covering the Yxsjberg district, integrating drilling records, underground geological information, and mine plans into the broader 3D model to assess deep-system potential.
Mineral Road said it intends to progress technical findings toward a NI 43-101 Mineral Resource estimate where results support doing so. The technical information was reviewed and approved by Derrick Strickland, an independent qualified person as defined by NI 43-101.
