USA TODAY Co., Inc. (NYSE: TDAY) has appointed Tim Allen, chief executive officer of Babbel, to its board of directors, the company announced.

Allen has held leadership roles across technology, digital media, subscription businesses, and consumer platforms for more than two decades. Before joining Babbel, a digital language-learning company, he served as CEO of Care.com and Ask.com, as vice president of program management and operations at Ask.com, and as general manager of product management at Vimeo.

Michael Reed, chairman and CEO of USA TODAY Co., cited Allen's background in subscription and direct-to-consumer business models as a factor in the appointment. "Tim's deep understanding of subscription and direct-to-consumer business models, and track record leveraging technology and AI to drive growth and deepen customer engagement will be invaluable as we continue expanding our digital opportunities," Reed said.

Allen commented on the appointment, saying he looks "forward to partnering with the Board and leadership team to help advance the Company's growth strategy, strengthen its service to communities and create value for shareholders."
