dLocal selects Oscilar for AML and compliance operations
dLocal (NASDAQ: DLO), a cross-border payment platform operating in more than 60 markets, has selected Oscilar, an AI-based risk platform, to support its anti-money laundering transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and case management operations, according to a press release from Oscilar.
dLocal processes payments across more than 1,000 alternative payment methods in markets across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America, each with distinct AML thresholds, sanctions obligations, and data governance rules. Oscilar's platform is designed to allow compliance teams to adjust rules, thresholds, and workflows to meet jurisdiction-specific requirements without engineering support.
Christiana Ellina, VP of Compliance at dLocal, cited the limitations of traditional bank-oriented monitoring systems as a factor in the selection. "Traditional bank-oriented monitoring systems were never designed for this environment," she said. "Oscilar gives our team the flexibility to operate market by market, the auditability our regulators expect, and the operational leverage to scale investigations without scaling complexity at the same rate."
Oscilar's platform uses AI agents alongside human analysts, with human reviewers retaining final decision authority. The company states that Level 1 compliance alerts can take up to 60 minutes each to investigate, and the platform is intended to reduce the manual data assembly involved in that process.
Neha Narkhede, co-founder and CEO of Oscilar, said dLocal "chose to address it at the architectural level instead of layering on another rules engine," referring to the gap between financial threats and fragmented compliance systems.
Oscilar, headquartered in Palo Alto, California, states it serves more than 100 financial institutions and processes tens of billions of risk decisions per year.
