Pinterest builds new AI layer with Nvidia using Blackwell GPUs
Pinterest has built a new artificial intelligence infrastructure layer in collaboration with Nvidia, according to a press release from the company. The system is designed to support multimodal AI products that rely on both images and language, including visual search, content understanding, and safety systems.
The infrastructure is built on Nvidia's accelerated computing platform using Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia Dynamo, combined with Pinterest's own visual embeddings. The setup gives Pinterest teams a shared foundation for building and launching multimodal AI products without requiring custom infrastructure for each one.
In benchmark testing, Pinterest reported average improvements of approximately 85 times faster response startup and 7.3 times faster overall latency when using precomputed visual representations instead of processing raw images repeatedly. The company also said the infrastructure enables its Pinterest Assistant feature to process 25 times more visual context per request.
Pinterest said it handles more than 80 billion monthly searches, which it is converting into signals for AI-powered discovery and shopping features.

The collaboration between Pinterest (NYSE: PINS) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) spans nearly five years and currently encompasses more than 14,000 Nvidia GPUs. The new infrastructure also supports additional use cases including ranking, safety, optical character recognition, and signal generation.
