L.B. Foster opens European distribution hub in Germany with Expeditors
L.B. Foster Company (NASDAQ: FSTR) has announced the expansion of its European distribution capabilities through a partnership with Expeditors International, establishing a new distribution hub in Germany, according to a company statement.
The Pittsburgh-based rail and infrastructure products company said it has appointed Expeditors as its strategic distribution partner for mainland Europe. The companies have collaborated for more than a decade. The new hub is intended to streamline product delivery and improve supply chain operations across European markets.
Germany was selected as the hub location due to its central position in Europe and transport infrastructure, the company said. The initiative is also intended to address logistical challenges arising from the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, including customs and commercial processes.
Jason Bowlin, Senior Vice President of Rail at L.B. Foster, said the expanded partnership is designed to "help reduce delays, simplify customs and commercial processes, and improve overall delivery performance" for European customers.
John Austin, Head of Segment – Friction Management, Europe, at L.B. Foster, said the company is "targeting operational readiness in the fourth quarter" and that the hub will support railway, industrial, and mining operations across the region.
The distribution expansion covers key European markets and is intended to serve customers in the Alpine region, among others.
