MicroVision lidar selected for Asia-Pacific autonomous vehicle pilot
MicroVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: MVIS) announced that its IRIS long-range lidar sensor will support an autonomous mobility service pilot program in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a company press release dated September 14, 2026.
The pilot vehicles integrate IRIS with cameras and radar as part of a multi-sensor perception system designed to provide real-time environmental awareness. IRIS provides long-range 3D sensing intended to support object detection and collision avoidance across conditions including higher speeds, low light, and nighttime driving.
Chief Executive Officer Glen DeVos cited the pilot as evidence of commercial progression following MicroVision's acquisition of Luminar assets approximately six months prior. "This reflects the commercial progression we have been working toward, moving from evaluation to validation and demonstrations, while providing another proof point of the value of our acquisition of Luminar assets just six months ago," DeVos said.
The program is currently deploying IRIS with a stated pathway to MicroVision's next-generation HALO sensor as the service expands. The company said its product roadmap is designed to allow customers to carry over existing integration and validation work when transitioning to the HALO platform.
MicroVision's lidar portfolio includes MOVIA L, MOVIA S, IRIS, HALO, and its Scantinel FMCW lidar, each paired with perception software. The company is headquartered in Redmond, Washington, with engineering centers in the U.S. and Germany.
