GS now sees "clearer catalyst path" for Meta shares post settlement & Muse launch

Investing.com -- Goldman Sachs reiterated a bullish stance on Meta Platforms in a note Monday, telling investors that the launch of the Muse AI agent and a recent legal settlement have created a clearer path of catalysts for the stock.

The bank maintained a Buy rating and $725 price target on the stock, saying it now holds its positive view "with increased conviction" and sees "a clearer catalyst path for the shares going forward" after the settlement and Muse launch.

Goldman noted that the consumer AI landscape is undergoing a fundamental shift from passive chatbots to proactive, autonomous agents capable of executing real-world tasks such as travel booking, shopping and bill negotiation.

The bank highlighted that Muse, Meta's full-scale personal AI agent, is available across dedicated apps, the web and WhatsApp and, powered by the Muse Spark 1.3 model, can browse the web, fill out forms, make purchases and coordinate long-term goals.

Notably, Meta launched Muse as a paid subscription, its first major foray into paid consumer AI, with tiers ranging from a free option to $100 a month, and Goldman sees potential for further monetization through commerce and advertising over time.

The bank believes that Meta's key advantage is scale and distribution, given its billions of daily users across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, a user-acquisition edge hard for startups to match. It expects Meta to prioritize adoption over monetization early on.

Goldman had previously framed Meta as moving from a "wall of worry" stock to one able to productize and monetize its compute, pointing to its Sept. 23 Connect event and potential new model releases as further catalysts.
