Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) broke ground on Sept. 9, 2026, on its first beverage can manufacturing facility in India, located in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

The facility, announced in April 2026, will include two production lines with an annual capacity of approximately 2.2 billion aluminum beverage cans. Operations are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027.

The groundbreaking ceremony included Crown executives, local government representatives, and customers. Following the event, Crown executives met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss the investment. During the meeting, Crown received the official land allotment letter for the project.

Djalma Novaes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said: "This investment reflects Crown's confidence in the future of the Indian beverage market, and the growing role of the beverage can as a sustainable packaging solution. The Unnao facility will combine advanced manufacturing technology, operational excellence and responsible resource management to support our customers' growth while creating long-term value for the region."

The facility is intended to serve demand for aluminum beverage cans across alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage categories. Crown said it continues to expect full-year capital expenditures of approximately $550 million.
