Avid Technology and Google Cloud announced an expansion of their strategic partnership, introducing a browser-based version of Avid Media Composer and an upgraded Avid Content Core platform, according to a press release statement.

The collaboration embeds Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise and Google BigQuery directly into Avid's post-production environment. The browser-based Media Composer, accessible via Google Chrome, allows editors to work on professional timelines through Avid Content Core. Agentic AI capabilities enable editors to use natural language prompts to sync media, transcribe dialogue, and organize project bins.

Content Core's semantic search function uses Google Cloud technologies to automatically generate transcripts and descriptions as media is imported, allowing production teams to search archives using natural language. A Content Core Insights feature, built with Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery, connects production data to broadcast programming and provides executives with data on staffing, resource utilization, production costs, and content performance.

The partnership also includes a hybrid cloud deployment option through the Avid Content Core Site Engine, which links customer Google Cloud environments to Content Core while keeping high-resolution assets within the customer's own cloud environment.

A survey conducted by Avid of professional editors found that 79% reported using AI in their workflows, with speech-to-text and transcription cited as the most common use cases at 60%. The survey also found that 87% of respondents consider AI most valuable when it helps them achieve creative goals more efficiently, while 63% said AI tools require tighter workflow integration to be useful.

Avid and Google Cloud plan to demonstrate these workflows at IBC2026 in Amsterdam from Sept. 11–14. Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) is the parent company of Google Cloud.
