Liberty Global invests in Positron AI's $875M funding round

September 11, 2026 6:04 AM

Liberty Global Tech Ventures, the investment arm of Liberty Global (Nasdaq: LBTYA, LBTYB, LBTYK), has announced a stake in Positron AI, a company that develops hardware and software for AI inference systems.

Liberty Global joined an oversubscribed $875 million funding round that values Positron AI at $5 billion. The round was co-led by NEA, Valor Equity Partners, Atreides Management, Andra Capital, SemiAnalysis Capital and Jim Clark.

Founded in 2023, Positron AI focuses on what it calls a memory-first architecture for AI inference — the stage at which trained AI models process inputs and generate outputs. Its Atlas systems use LPDDR5X memory and are designed to be installed in existing data centers without modifications to cooling infrastructure. The company claims its systems achieve more than 90% memory bandwidth utilization.

Positron AI counts Oracle, Jump Trading and Parasail among its current customers. Its next-generation custom silicon, Asimov, is scheduled to tape out in late 2026, with production expected in the second half of 2027. Asimov will power a system called Titan, designed for long-context AI workloads.

Bobbie Maltiel, Partner at Liberty Global Tech Ventures, said: "The ability to deliver token usage at the lowest possible cost is key to the full benefits being delivered for society. The Positron team have a relentless focus on this and we are delighted to be joining them on their mission to deliver high-speed AI at the lowest possible cost to businesses and consumers."

Positron AI joins other companies in Liberty Global Tech Ventures' portfolio, including ElevenLabs, XBOW, Legora and Higgsfield.
