TransCode Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNAZ) announced the retirement of Chief Financial Officer Tom Fitzgerald, effective immediately, with John Tattory named as Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Fitzgerald has served as CFO since July 2018, during which time he helped lead the company through its initial public offering, the launch of its clinical program for lead product candidate TTX-MC138, and the acquisition of Polynoma and a license agreement with Oncolytics.

Philippe P. Calais, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board and CEO, said: "On behalf of the Board, I wish to thank Tom for his many years of dedicated service to the company and its key stakeholders, starting all the way back when TransCode was a small, discovery stage company with limited resources but outsized ambitions."

Fitzgerald also resigned as a director of the company and will continue to provide transition services following his departure.

Tattory brings more than 25 years of financial and operational experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology sectors. He began his career at Ernst & Young LLP before serving as Finance Director at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Tyco International. He subsequently served as CFO of Cerapedics, Inc. and Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: WINT). He currently serves as a Managing Director at Stout Risius Ross, LLC, where he provides consulting CFO services to life science companies.
