AutoZone opens its 8,000th store in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

AutoZone, Inc. (NYSE: AZO) opened its 8,000th store in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Sept. 10, 2026, marking a milestone for the automotive parts retailer that first opened a single location in Forrest City, Arkansas, on July 4, 1979.

The grand opening ceremony included a ribbon cutting with AutoZone leaders, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Senator Marsha Blackburn.

The new location will offer automotive replacement parts, maintenance items, free battery testing and charging, Fix Finder diagnostic services and the Loan-A-Tool program.

"Achieving this milestone was made possible by the dedication of our incredible AutoZoners, the loyalty of our customers and the trust of the communities we serve."

As of Aug. 29, 2026, AutoZone operated 6,863 stores in the U.S., 1,001 in Mexico and 167 in Brazil, for a total of 8,031 locations across the Americas, according to the company.
