Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has appointed a joint venture between Aecom (NYSE: ACM) and Jacobs as Program Delivery Partner for MetroLink, a proposed underground rail system planned for Dublin, Ireland.

The MetroLink project is described as Ireland's first fully segregated metro railway. The system would include 16 new stations connecting Swords in North County Dublin with Dublin Airport and the city center. The predominantly underground line would integrate with existing Irish Rail, DART commuter rail, Luas light rail, and BusConnects services.

As Program Delivery Partner, the joint venture will support procurement and delivery of the metro system, providing program management, governance, and risk management services throughout the program lifecycle.

Aecom Chief Executive in Europe and India Richard Whitehead said the selection "reflects AECOM's leadership in delivering complex, multi-billion-dollar programs around the world."

Jacobs Executive Vice President and General Manager Europe Richard Sanderson said the firm would bring experience from "some of the world's largest and most complex transportation programs" to help manage complexity and risk across MetroLink.

Both companies cite prior experience on major rail programs including London's Elizabeth line, Metrolinx in Toronto, California High-Speed Rail, and Cross River Rail in Brisbane. Both firms also have existing infrastructure work in Ireland, including Aecom's involvement in the Dublin Airport Capital Investment Plan and Jacobs' work on BusConnects Dublin and Cork programs.
