Ramaco Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ: METC, METCB) announced that former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin will step down from the company's board of directors to focus on an independent leadership council movement he is pursuing with his daughter Heather.

Ramaco, a metallurgical coal operator based in Lexington, Kentucky, said it understands and respects Manchin's decision. The company expressed gratitude for the perspective and public-service experience he brought to the board.

"We are deeply appreciative of Senator Manchin's dedicated service and the valuable input he brought to our Board," said Randall W. Atkins, Ramaco's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Senator Manchin's insight, experience and commitment to American energy, industry and economic security added tremendous value to our work."

Manchin said he remains a supporter of the company. "While I am stepping away from the Board, I remain a strong supporter of Ramaco and will do everything I can to help the company continue to succeed," he said.

Ramaco said it looks forward to maintaining its relationship with Manchin going forward.
