Cohen & Steers AUM falls to $101B in August on market losses

Cohen & Steers, Inc. (NYSE: CNS) reported preliminary assets under management of $101.0 billion as of August 31, 2026, down $1.5 billion from $102.5 billion at the end of July, according to a company statement.

The decline was driven by market depreciation of $1.9 billion and distributions of $155 million, partially offset by net inflows of $528 million during the month.

By investment vehicle, institutional accounts ended August at $38.7 billion, down from $39.6 billion at the end of July, with net inflows of $98 million and market depreciation of $924 million. Open-end funds fell to $49.7 billion from $50.1 billion, reflecting net inflows of $430 million offset by market depreciation of $804 million. Closed-end funds declined to $12.6 billion from $12.8 billion, with no net flows, market depreciation of $144 million, and distributions of $58 million.
