Amazon and Wiwynn announced an expansion of Wiwynn's manufacturing facility in Socorro, Texas, with plans to create nearly 1,000 new advanced manufacturing jobs by the end of 2027, according to a statement from the companies.

The expansion is expected to bring total employment at the facility to over 2,500 next year, with further growth to 4,000 employees projected at full capacity. Wiwynn has invested over $1.6 billion in the Texas facility.

Wiwynn manufactures and integrates server systems and racks for Amazon's data center infrastructure. The facility is described as part of Amazon's effort to bring production of custom hardware to the U.S. and build domestic supply chain capacity.

Gary Szilagyi, Amazon vice president of Annapurna Labs, said the company has created more than 86,000 jobs across Texas and that Wiwynn's facility expands that impact. William Lin, president and CEO of Wiwynn, called the facility "a major new chapter" in the company's global manufacturing footprint.

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Rick Switzer cited the investment as an example of Taiwan's commitment to invest $250 billion in advanced manufacturing in the United States.

Amazon has invested more than $100 billion in Texas since 2010 and currently employs 86,000 people across the state.
