Parallel Works and CoreWeave deploy AI platform for DARPA program
Parallel Works, Inc. and CoreWeave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV) announced the deployment of a managed AI and high-performance computing platform for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Network of Optimal Dynamic Energy Signatures (NODES) program.
The platform is built on CoreWeave's AI cloud infrastructure and delivered through Parallel Works' ACTIVATE control plane. It provides DARPA researchers with access to large-scale computing, orchestration software, and technical support for biological modeling and AI research.
The infrastructure includes dedicated NVIDIA HGX H100 systems, enterprise-scale storage, and high-speed NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand networking. Researchers access the environment through a single sign-on portal, with compute capacity divided across NODES research teams through guaranteed allocations and shared capacity pools.
"DARPA needs researchers focused on biology, not on building infrastructure or managing compute environments," said Matthew Shaxted, CEO of Parallel Works. "By combining CoreWeave's AI cloud platform with the ACTIVATE platform, we're giving NODES teams immediate access to the AI resources they need so they can spend their time advancing research."

According to the companies, delivering AI cloud infrastructure through traditional methods can take months. The managed environment is designed to allow researchers to train AI models and run complex simulations within days. The NODES program focuses on the dynamics of biological systems, which requires large-scale computing resources.
The ACTIVATE platform includes around-the-clock support, unified orchestration through CoreWeave's Slurm on Kubernetes offering, and operational reporting across research teams. CoreWeave's observability stack monitors the underlying infrastructure fleet.
