Brightline Interactive (NASDAQ: BTLN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with George Mason University's College of Engineering and Computing and its Global AI Innovation & Literacy Center, according to a company statement.

The agreement pairs Brightline's SpatialCore platform — described as an open standards-based interoperability platform designed to give drones, robots, and other autonomous systems a shared understanding of the physical world — with GMU's research infrastructure and student talent pool.

George Mason University enrolls more than 40,000 students and has secured over $500 million in research funding from the Department of Defense over the past nine years. The university holds R1 research institution status, the highest classification for doctoral universities in the United States.

Under the MOU, both organizations plan to pursue applied research, workforce development, and technology innovation. Brightline will provide SpatialCore as a technical resource for Mason researchers and students, while GMU will contribute experience translating government and industry mission requirements into sponsored research opportunities. The two organizations also intend to identify future collaborative projects.

"GMU is a strong example: a partner capable of helping us extend SpatialCore into new mission areas across government and commercial sectors."

Professor William Roeting of GMU's College of Engineering & Computing said the pairing "gives both organizations a unique capability to solve mission-critical problems for the Government and Industry as well as establishes an academic voice to the Physical AI ecosystem."
